Assumptions
become facts in your mind
and it shocks you
when the opposite occurs

and you wonder
how did you become so silly?

    Expect nothing. Assume nothing. Prepare for anything. Live for the moment.

    No, no. That reads like I’m saying your poem is trite. It isn’t. It captures a really simple, yet profound, truth, very neatly and concisely.
